Surviving in the cannabis industry is no easy feat. Way too often we see ideas turn into businesses that fail massively due to management inexperience, lack of understanding the market or inability to grow. So when GFive Cultivation turned 1-years old, the crew decided a good party was needed.
Larry Smith and business partner Shawn Holman brought GFive Cultivation to life 1-year ago. Based in Las Vegas, the two became the first African-Americans to have a medical marijuana cultivation farm in Clark County Nevada.
To celebrate their 1-year anniversary, the two are throwing a big concert in Las Vegas. Headlined by Cam’ron, Jim Jones and Freaky Zeeky a.k.a The Dipset, the anniversary party will be a way for GFive to enoy a milestone with the community that help them be successful.
I spoke with Larry Smith recently about their anniversary concert and what’s in store for the future.
CashColorCannabis: Before we start off, lets say congratulations on your 1-year anniversary. That’s a big accomplishment. Looking back, what would you say you’re most proud of?
Larry Smith: Thank you man! I’m just proud that we made it. We didn’t have any big backers or major corporations behind us when we got started. It was just some friends who trusted in one another and believed in doing good, honorable business.
CashColorCannabis: Lets talk about this concert. What can supporters expect from the show?
Larry Smith: We tried to do a party before. We tried to do a big party at a hotel. It just wasn’t a good fit. This time, we’re doing it at Institution. We hooked with some young, hip kids. It’s going to be a great atmosphere to celebrate.
CashColorCannabis: I know The Dipset will be in the building. Who else is on the bill performing?
Larry Smith: Of course we have The Dipset coming. Cam’ron, Jim Jones, Freaky Zeeky. Unfourtanetly, for legal matters Juelz won’t be there. We also have Interstate Fatz and Dizzy Wright affiliate Demrick.
CashColorCannabis: Aside from the concert, what other plans do you have to celebrate the 1-year anniversary?
Larry Smith: Of course we will have some specials on products that you can find at dispensaries out here like our good friends at Jardin and NuWu Cannabis Marketplace.
CashColorCannabis: What about the future? What are some plans to grow the brand?
Larry Smith: We would like to build out a new facility. I would like to let people inside and view the plants. For the sake of the plants, the less human contact the better. In the future, we want to design a building where you can see the plants without actually touching them.
There’s still lots of unknowns. There are big dollars coming into the industry now and more competition is coming. We’re just going to take it one step at a time.
