Normally when you get arrested and accused of trafficking drugs, you get a lengthy prison sentence. Not when you’re a former employee of the state.

A former Macon attorney was sentenced Wednesday to three years probation and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine in connection to the distribution of drugs.
Holly Hogue Edwards, 36, was indicted in August of 2015. Authorities say she attempted to sell narcotics to an undercover Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent in June of 2015.
According to the United States Department of Justice, Edwards met the undercover agent in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant and provided them with methamphetamine and oxycodone. She was introduced to the undercover agent through a confidential informant.
Edwards pleaded guilty to the distribution charge on April 20th. She surrendered her law license in September. According to the DOJ, when they accepted the surrender of her license, the Supreme Court of Georgia stated that the action was “tantamount to disbarment.”
Edwards was arrested by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
