I’ll admit, I’m not what you would call a Lil Yatchy fan. It’s just not my type of thing. And at one point, I was a fan of Lil B the Based God just to put all this in perspective. Yachty is an interesting cat though. His dad is a well-known photographer in Atlanta and Yachty himself is becoming a star in his own right.
Whenever he’s doing an interview, I try to tune in. Not so much because of him, but mainly for the people who are doing the interview. I honestly feel like reporters try to mess with him when they can. His interviews often turn into viral hits for whatever media outlet is covering it, because of something he said, or tried to do that  would turn into comedy gold. Today’s installment in “How can we embarrass Lil Yachty” comes via Complex and the Everyday Struggle show.
As you might know Joe Budden has a show along with Dj Akademiks on Complex called, Everyday Struggle. Recently, Lil Boat was a guest. They asked him about his music situation i.e. what kind of deal did you sign. The two were wondering if Yachty happened to sign 360 deal.
For those that don’t know, a 360 deal is a new thing that labels created in order to keep up with artists who we’re using social media and music platforms to sell and promote music, merchandise, shows etc. With a 360 deal, a label will invest money and resources in you in return for a percentage off shows, merch and sales. Sounds like a win right? Wrong! A 360 deal only works for a label and or artist who only have goals of being a one-hit wonder.To go into a deal with someone who’s is pulling a % off everything you do, is never a good move.
Not sure if Yachty sees himself as a one-hit wonder or an artist here for the long-haul? What we do know is, he doesn’t know what type of deal he signed. I kinda hope that’s a joke, because that would speak a lot to people he has around him. Who allows someone they care about to amass large amounts of money and not have an understanding of where it’s going? Are about to witness another Hammer? I hole not.
