Today In Hip-Hop History: Raekwon “Only Built 4 Cuban Links” Turns 22 (Video)

Throw the Wu-sign in the air for the Chef Raekwon. 22-years ago, Raekwon alongside his partner-in-rhyme, Ghostface Killah and some assistance from his Wu-Tang brethren released possibly the best album to ever come out the camp.

Only Built 4 Cuban Links was the third album to come from the group. Sandwiched between Method Man’sTical” and ODB Return to the 36 Chambers, Raekwon gave fans a gritty album full of drug-dealer talk, fashion references and razor-sharp lyrics.

Known for the color of the tape, OB4CL was a staple in the tape and CD players for young Hip-Hop heads like myself. The album spawned classics like “Verbal Intercourse” “Heaven or Hell” and “Incarcerated Scarfaces.”

The purple tape also gave us the club hit, “Ice Cream” Check out the video below
