T.Y. McGill Arrested For Marijuana Possession After Being Claimed Off Waivers By The Cleveland Browns

via USA Today

After being claimed off waivers by the Cleveland Browns, defensive tackle T.Y. McGill might find himself off an N.F.L roster after his recent arrest this past weekend in Charlotte. The N.C. State product was arrested over the weekend in Charlotte N.C. for marijuana possession.

Per Charlotte Observer

The Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office confirmed Tuesday that McGill, whose full name is Torrone Carlton McGill Jr., was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana. His court date is scheduled for Oct. 24.

Alcohol Law Enforcement agent Omar Qureshi was conducting surveillance at the Westin Hotel uptown around 12:15 a.m. Saturday when he saw McGill in the hotel’s valet area with “a small amount” of marijuana. Qureshi said McGill initially denied having the marijuana, but soon was cooperative.

No arrest was made, Qureshi said, and no one else was charged.

McGill, 24, posted an Instagram Saturday indicating he was in Charlotte for the College Kickoff at Bank of America Stadium. South Carolina beat N.C. State 35-28.
McGill was claimed off waivers by the Browns on Sunday after being released Saturday by the Indianapolis Colts, where he spent his first two NFL seasons.

A spokesman for the Browns could not be reached for comment. McGill’s agents declined to comment.

Chances are, McGill will be looking for a new team after the league hits him with their penalties.
