Jamaica has gone from a country that wanted to crackdown on cannabis to legalizing it for medical research and therapeutic use. It would make sense. Most people would associate cannabis more with Reggae legend Bob Marley and Jamaica.
But will this new cannabis boom benefit the local farmers? License fees could possibly price out small farmers from participating. USA Today spoke to some farmers in Jamaica, notably Kim Ford with Mighty Jamaica and Hemp and Ganja Growers Association about how small farmers could be priced out of the game.
