Earlier this month, Rep. Carlos Guillermo refiled his bill to decriminalize cannabis in Florida.

Rep. Carlos Guillermo Smith (D-Orlando), a man not afraid to wear a pair of weed sox, has re-filed legislation to overhaul Florida’s incredibly dated marijuana laws.
The bill, HB1203, would re-categorize misdemeanor criminal offenses for minor possession of marijuana (20 grams or less) as non-criminal civil violations.
So basically, instead of getting up to a year in jail or a fine of $1,000, anyone with 20 grams or less would no longer be subject to arrest, and instead would face no more than a $100 fine, or 15 hours of community service. Minors could face up to 15 hours of community service, and have to do a drug awareness program.

The same bill will be filed by Rep. Randolph Bracey (D-Ocoee) in the Senate.
The 2018 regular legislation began January 9th.
