One company is planning to shift the mindset of individuals when it comes to medical marijuana. Veriheal, a DC based technology company helps patients find healing through medical marijuana by providing them with doctors, access to dispensaries, and education on the medicine and industry.
“We feel like no one was pushing the envelope when it comes to stepping out and letting people know the benefits of this plant” says Sam Adetunji, co-founder of Veriheal.
When Sam originally tried getting his medical marijuana cards in DC, the process seemed to be excessively confusing. Every person they called when looking for some help seemed confused by the process as well. “Some of the dispensaries never even reached back out to us” said Joshua Green, co-founder and partner at Veriheal. “We then started calling each state with a medical marijuana program on the east coast and the feedback was the same”.
After that, the Veriheal team was formed. Starting in DC but rapidly expanding throughout the east coast, Veriheal began understanding why and when the medical marijuana programs in certain states became so confusing.
One of the main steps in getting access to medical marijuana is meeting with a licensed physician that is legally certified to write recommendations in your state. Once a doctor approves you, the next step is finding a dispensary to purchase from. After that, education is needed to understand what and how to use the medicine. This whole process can be done directly on Veriheal’s online platform.
“We see ourselves as the one stop shop for medical marijuana patients” says Joshua.
Currently, medical marijuana is a big topic not only on the national level, but also on the local level. With Jeff Sessions making proclamations targeting the Legal Cannabis Industry, the light has been shined on the medical marijuana community as they feel more longevity in the industry.
Veriheal plans to continue expanding into states that have a medical marijuana program. In hopes to bring more awareness and education to people from all over, they have launched a new platform. VerihealTV – a newly launched extension from Veriheal – will be an online video network providing all things medical marijuana related.
“2018 is going to be an exciting but challenging year as we mainly want to focus on changing the image of cannabis as a medicine and no longer a street drug” says Sam. With such a big vision, this DC company may have a leg up on a generally older and traditionally influenced industry.
Veriheal’s vision is to help the East Coast become a main player in the medical marijuana industry. Through Veriheal, the process of obtaining a medical marijuana card has never been easier. First, you book an appointment with a Veriheal doctor who will review your ailments and medical condition. Then, once you are evaluated and approved, you will receive a medical cannabis recommendation from one of their licensed medical marijuana doctors registered with the state.
Veriheal has already signed up over 2,000 patients in Washington DC and has operations in Maine, Montana, New York, and Pennsylvania. For more information, visit their site at http://www.veriheal.com.
