Film: Ricki Lake Produced “Weed The People” Makes Its Debut At SXSW (Video)

This week, thousands of people will descend on Austin Texas for SXSW. The music and film interactive festival will play host to not just some amazing musicians, but also be the place where some exciting new films can make their debut.

One of those films is the Ricki Lake produced “Weed The People.” The documentary tackles the medical use of cannabis and the lengths that families will go through to get sick family members and friends access to the one thing they need.

Weed the People” follows these families through uncharted waters as they take their children’s survival into their own hands. Some of their miraculous outcomes beget the unsettling question at the heart of the film: If weed is truly saving lives, why doesn’t the government want people to access it?

The film make their big debut this week in Austin. If you’re not in Austin this week, then you can see the trailer for the Abby Epstein directed documentary now. Watch the full clip below
