Land For Sale, #KickTheCup & R.I.P. Actavis: 5 Takeaways From Our Interview With Killa Kyleon (Audio)

SXSW has come and gone, but the content is still coming. CashColorCannabis had the chance to partner with UGQ Enterprises for the 3rd annual LegendsXHouse stage. A tribute show dedicated to the legacies of rappers Pimp C and Proof and showcased through music and art.

A ton of amazing acts hit the stage and later found their way to the CashColorCannabis “Greenroom” for a quick interview. One of the acts for the night was Houston’s own Killa Kyleon. One of the most underrated lyricists in the game, Killa’s 2017 release, the critically acclaimed Lorraine Motel placed Killa firmly on the national radar.

After Killa rocked the LegendsXHouse, we spoke about the Texas codeine culture, his interests in the weed business and more.

Here are 5 takeaways from our interview with Killa Kyleon that you should remember from our talk.

1. Life is like a game of Monopoly

Cannabis laws in the great state of Texas have loosened in various cities with a dispensary open in Austin. With that said, the possibilities of recreational coming are probably far down the road. Regardless, Killa Kyleon will be ready. He already has the most valuable thing in the room, land.

“I already got some real estate in Austin, so I’m waiting on it,” said Killa when I reminded him of a previous conversation we had about the cannabis business.

2. Kicking the cup

Earlier this year, we saw many artists pour out their lean. The drive to get rid of codeine syrup came after several artists passed away after overdosing on opiates. While a protector of Texas culture, Killa Kyleon himself kicked his syrup habit sometime back.

Best decision I ever made was not doing it anymore,” he says as he explained his move from sipping syrup.

3. Pass the blunt

To fight the urge to grab a double-cup, he turned to a more natural option. The former Smokers Club headliner turned to bud for battle the temptation.

4. Sold Out

Killa made it a point to remind the world, the syrup that started the trend, Actavis is no more. The popular brand went out of business years ago. While the name still lives through music, that’s the only place it lives. Which makes you wonder, what exactly are people drinking when they are “pouring up?”

People are drinking right now because it looks cool. But they don’t know what the fxxk they drinking. Nxxas is making shit in the kitchen. Anything for a habit.”

5.Friendly reminder

He does remind us that while everything from alcohol to codeine kills thousands every year, cannabis is on a helluva winning streak. “Weed ain’t never killed you, made you bloated like syrup, don’t give you brain damage or breaking up families.”
