Recently, Compassionate Cultivation received recognition as a 2018 award winner in the eighth annual Austin A-List of Hottest Startups, which salutes rising businesses in Texas’ capital city. The state-licensed maker of CBD medicine is the first and only medical cannabis company to be a winner of the honor.
“It’s so gratifying for Compassionate Cultivation to be here with some of the most innovative businesses in Austin,” said CEO Morris Denton. “We’re charting a new course in Texas, and this award further legitimizes how the medical cannabis industry will be of great benefit to not only to the patients we serve, but also as a real source of economic growth for Austin and beyond.”
Austin’s A-List—sponsored by the Austin Chamber and South by Southwest—honors top startups and innovators in Austin, which is well-known as a hotbed for some of the world’s most innovative business and tech-focused hubs.
Compassionate Cultivation made history early this year as the first licensed medical cannabis dispensary in Texas to open its doors to patients. It is one of three businesses licensed by the state to grow medical cannabis and produce low-THC, high-CBD products, and the only one that is Texas-owned and operated.
“Our foremost mission is to provide patients with rigorously tested, consistent CBD medicine to help ease their suffering, and this wouldn’t be possible without a supremely dedicated staff that believes in what we’re doing,” Mr. Denton said. “I’m stunned to think about all we’ve accomplished in launching our business less than a year after we received our provisional license from the state. And this is only the beginning.”
