Music To Smoke To: New Releases From Freddie Gibbs, Michael Christmas & Westside Gunn (Audio)

I don’t know about you, but we kick-off the weekend with new music. Lucky for us, some of our favorite artists gave us reasons to put the headphones and zone out the noise of the world for a few minutes. Here are 3 albums we recommend you bump for the weekend add to your library.

Up first is Freddie Gibbs. Gangsta Gibbs surprised the world when he released his 10-track L.P., Freddie. Gibbs stays true to his gritty, gangsta rap roots throughout the project.

He introduced the project with this hilarious, informerical style promo video.

If for nothing else, play this because of the artwork.

Stand-out tracks: “Death Row” ft. 03 Greedo, “Weight”, “Set Set”, “FLFM”, “Automatic”

“Boom, boom, boom!” Westside Gunn kicked in the door this weekend with Supreme Blientele. Initially titled, Chris Benoit, the album titles are named after legendary wrestlers.

Gunn grapples with beats for over 17-tracks. He did tag in the likes of Jadakiss, Busta Rhymes, Anderson.Paak and other from match to match. Diehard fand, don’t fret. Gunn brings the usual suspects, Conway, Benny and Roc Marciano comes along to beat up beats too.

If you’re in the mood for that scary, hide your chain rap, Supreme Blientele is for you.

Stand-out tracks: “GOD’s Don’t Bleed” ft. Benny and Jadakiss, “RVD” ft. Keisha Plum, “Brossface Brippler” ft Busta Rhymes, “The Steiners” ft. Elzhi.

Last but not least, Boston native Michael Christmas gives us a quirky collection of tracks as well.

Role Model showcases Michael being everything but a good role model for his sister and brother. His advice for his siblings on the “Intro” should’ve been enough for school officials to be worried. Music fans are safe though.

Michael’s sharp word-play and penchant for painting pictures with his verses makes for a smooth listen.

Stand-out tracks: “These Days”, “Girlfriend”, “Everybody Eats” ft. Cousin Stizz, “Not for Me”.
