Brooklyn Nets forward Kenneth Faried must’ve forgot that he was no longer playing in Denver.
Faried was arrested in New York City and charged with possession of marijuana.
According to TMZ Sports, the 28-year-old power forward was arrested on the Montauk Highway in Bridgehampton, New York at around 1:30 AM Sunday.
His vehicle, allegedly, was stopped at a sobriety checkpoint on Long Island, where an officer noticed that a “strong odor of marijuana was emanating from the inside of the vehicle.”
Police searched Faried’s car and found over two ounces of cannabis, along with an undisclosed amount of cash, within the confines of the vehicle.
He was then charged with fourth-degree unlawful possession of marijuana— a misdemeanor— and taken to a local police station for processing.
He was released on $500 bail.
The Brooklyn Nets released this statement about his arrest.
We are aware of the situation involving Kenneth Faried and are in the process of gathering more information at this time,” the Nets said in a statement.
If convicted, he could face up to one year in jail.
