The Hip-Hop world mourns the loss of a shining, bright young star that flamed out too soon.

26-year-old Mac MIller was found unresponsive in his home earlier today. He was later pronounced dead. Reports are he died from an overdose.

Mac came to us as Hip-Hop began to skew younger. He was introduced to the Hip-Hop world through his early mixtapes. He came in alongside the likes of Currensy and labelmate Wiz Khalifa as part of a generation who leaned primarily on the Internet to build their loyal fan base and promote their music.

Over the span of his short career, Miller released 5 albums, all of which hit the top 5 on the Billboard charts with his highest ranking being his debut album, Blue Slide Park which came in at number 1 in 2011. All the musical success in the world can’t fill all the holes in a person’s life.

Through music, Miller spoke openly about his fight with addiction ans substance abuse.

Today’s news is a stark reminder that there will be many who will remember Mac more for his DUI back in May and his highly publicized break-up with singer Ariana Grande, than the vast music catalog he created.

Few will remember how his sneaker anthem “Nikes On My Feet” made you proud to put on a pair of Dunks

or how he went to war with Donald Trump over a song.

Mac was a true artist and his art will live forever.

The one’s who will remember all that he gave musical will be his fans. Over a short amount of time, Miller created a die-hard fan base that he loved as much as they loved him.

In his last interview before his death, when Miller is quoted as saying, “The people that have the best chance of knowing me, that would like, would be listening to my music.” Those people got to know you Mac and they did like you. They are remembering you now.

Mac Miller will be missed.
