Did ABC Cancel An MMJ Episode ‘Scrubs’

Zach Braff says ABC cancelled an mmj episode of ‘Scrubs’

Zach Braff had a long run on playing the role of J.D. on the hit t.v. show Scrubs. For 9 seasons he played an attending physician at the fictional Sacred Heart hospital.

Braff recently spoke a panel at Vulture Festival in Los Angeles about the chance that we may see a reboot of the show. During the panel, he spoke about the shows transition from NBC to ABC and how their new network possibly scrubbed an episode of the show that featured medical marijuana.

We only shot one thing ever that Bill had to throw out, ” Braff said. “That many years ago, they were like, ‘Medicinal marijuana? Get the hell out of here!’

Scrubs producer Bill Lawrence then created another plot that involved a cancer patient and male prostitutes. That pitch got the greenlight from the network.

We had this story about getting medicinal marijuana for somebody who was having trouble with chemo and cancer,” Lawrence said. “So to make a point, I said, ‘What if the patient was a virgin and decided they want to have sex for the first time and Carla and Elliot wanted to go looking for a male prostitute for him?’ They said, ‘Oh, that’s fine.’ We could get a prostitute, just not medicinal marijuana.”

He also mentioned how ABC also issues with other storylines, including one that involved Robert Maschio’s character Dr. Todd, rocking a thong.
