“Hold up, wait!”Â
On December 15th 1992, Dr. Dre released, The Chronic. Dre’s first solo project, the sonic masterpiece let the music world know that the West Coast had something to say.Â
At the time, Dre’s album seemed like a last ditch effort to  stay relevant. Dre had just seperated himself from longtime collaborator and friend Eazy E and the group he helped launch, N.W.A and joined up with another more ruthless team.Â
He would go on to sign with Death Row records. Dre would go ont o become the face of the label. Leaving a group and label that made him a star, jumping out on his own would be a big risk. His debut album would be a make or break moment for everyone involved.Â
The Chronic would go one to sell more than 6 million albums, spawned multiple hit records, defined a sound for a generation, gave a platform for a new crop of emcees and introduced the world to a new strain of weed. How many other albums can claim all that?Â
Today, we celebrate The Chronic. Like a fat sack of that bubonic chronic and stream the full album below
