N.F.L. wideout Josh Gordon has had one of the most up-and-down careers in league hiatory. When he’s good, he’s good. But when it’s bad, it’s bad.

Gordon, prior to signing with the New England Patriots, was suspended for 2 seasons for failing multiple drug tests. Gordon, who has been open about his mental issues and his use of cannabis had a great season with New England. After what was looking like a comeback season for Gordon, may become his final season.

According to NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero, Gordon is facing another indefinite suspension for violating the terms of his reinstatement under the league’s substance abuse policy. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Gordon is not expected to take the field again this season “or maybe ever again.

Gordon, who was acquired with a seventh-round pick from the Browns for a fifth-round pick on Sept. 17, played 92 percent of the snaps in Sunday’s loss to the Steelers. He was curiously removed for the final play of the game and walked straight to the bench area without watching Tom Brady’s last-gasp attempt to tie the game.

Hopefully Josh can find some peace of mind off the field before he pursues success on the field again.

Update: According to ESPN N.F.L. writer Adam Schefter, the league has officially suspended Josh Gordon for violating terms of his conditional reinstatement under the Policy and Program for Substance of Abuse.
