1-Year Later: Nipsey Hussle's 'Victory Lap' Turns 1

February 16th 2018, Nipsey Hussle gifted the world with his major label debut Victory Lap.

Nip gave us the long-awaited project after inking a deal with Atlantic Records. 16-tracks long, Nipsey delivered a stellar project with the the assistance from a team of all-stars.

Neighborhood Nip brought in some of his usual collaborators such as Dom Kennedy, Y.G., Buddy and Tefli. He didn’t limit the project to just his normal circle. The Dream, Kendrick Lamar and Cee-Lo also join the session.

Normally, an album with some many names is a bad idea. That wasn’t the case in this situation.

From front to back, Victory Lap was a great album for the moment. Just as most people were complaining about what new school rapper they hated the most, Nip came in with the most balanced project of 2018.

Nip took us to the streets with “Rap Niggas” and “Last Time that I Checked”. He gave motivational speeches on ” Young Nigga”, “Dedication”, ” Million While You’re Young” and “Loaded Bases”. ” Double Up” and “Keys to the City” can fit into a dj mix, while “Status Symbol 3” and “Grinding All My Life” were house party ready.

While he didn’t snatch the Grammy, he’s still a megastar in the making who can boast that he delivered a home run in his first at-bat.
