Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP (SGR) is pleased to announce it will host a cannabis law symposium on Tuesday, March 19 in the firm’s Atlanta office. Presented as Cannabis Laws: Getting into the Weeds, the symposium will include an overview of current cannabis laws in the United States and Georgia, as well as the proposed House Bill 324, which would approve and provide for licenses to grow, manufacture, or dispense THC oil, and House Bill 213, which would allow Georgia farmers to grow hemp for CBD oil and other products. Georgia State Representative Vernon Jones (D-Lithonia) of District 91 will be on hand to discuss HB 324 and HB 213.

Additionally, information will be presented on intellectual property protections for innovative cannabis-related products, and issues that employers may face with the increasing legalization of cannabis. Speakers include SGR attorneys Steve O’Day, Partner and Head of the Environmental Law and Sustainability practices, Greg Kirsch, Partner and Head of the Intellectual Property Practice, Matt Clarke, Partner in the Litigation and Labor and Employment practices, and Anne Pitter, Partner in the Corporate and Real Estate practices. Daniel Glasser, Director of Business Development with Indica Capital Group is also speaking.
