After nearly two decades of creating successful emerging technology companies such as Unified, a marketing analytics platform that provides marketers with the data they need to run a successful promotion, Owen noticed a lack of similar monetization for cannabis advertising. With this insight, Owen made his foray into cannabis in 2017 by creating Muncheez, the first ever ad tracking software for cannabis.
Before Owen created Muncheez, cannabis advertisers would place ads and curate deals, knowing very little about how these strategies were resonating with consumers, leaving marketers in the dark. The regulatory red tape cannabis marketers navigate daily made it nearly impossible to provide the same level of data-driven insight non-cannabis marketers have at their disposal. “The driving force of Muncheez was to bring cannabis advertising on the same level playing field as any other respectable industry,” said Owen. “Cannabis was a one-sided marketplace.
