News that Los Angeles rapper Nipsey Hussle was shot to death outside his store in L.A. cause shock waves throughout the music world today.
A star on the rise in the Hip-Hop world for years, Nipsey broke onto the scene with his hit single, “Hussle In the House.”
Born Ermias Davidson Asghedom, Nip became a indie fan-favorite thanks to his early projects like Bullets Have No Names, Slauson Boy He would eventually ink a deal with Epic records.
His deal with Epic didn’t last long. In 2010, Nip would return to his indie roots. It was during this time as an independent act that he became an urban legend.
His mixtape series, The Marathon and The Marathon Continues landed Hip on the radar of major names in rap like Rick Ross and later JAY Z who famoulsy purchased 100 units of his Crewnshaw project that he sold for $100 a piece.
After the success of his Mailbox Money project, Nipsey inked a lucarative deal with Atlantic records which led to the release of his major label debut, Victory Lap.
Spawing several singles, Victory Lap would net Nipsey his first Grammy nomination.
Nipsey lost his life on March 30th 2019 after being shot 6 times outside his flagship The Marathon store. Nipsey leaves behind two children.
