Where were you when you heard Outkast’s debut album Southernplayalisticcaddilacmuzik?
I was a young kid walking through Boston trying to explain to my friends why I’m listening to these strange dudes from Atlanta. It would take a few months, but eventually, more people would catch onto what I was hearing.
25-years ago, Andre 3000 and Big Boi brought a new element to music. Alongside the Organized Noize an artform that had become sample-heavy was blessed with live instrumentation. Coupled with Dre and Big Boi’s contrasting flows and styles, Southernplayalistic… was perfect for the moment.
