The winners of the 26th Annual Communicator Awards have officially been announced by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA). With over 6,000 entries received from across the United States and around the world, The Communicator Awards is the largest and most competitive awards program honoring creative excellence for communications professionals. She Blaze, a weekly cannabis news and culture video podcast, received an Award of Distinction in Online Video for Podcasts/Vlogs.
“I give full credit to my sister, Ice Dawson, for having the vision to create a video podcast like She Blaze to inspire and inform younger women of color who are typically showcased as hypersexualized sidekicks as part of the cannabis culture” said Dasheeda Dawson, best-selling cannabis author and co-host of the weekly show. She added, “We are proud to be the first from our industry to receive The Communicator Award and we hope to continue blazing trails in media excellence for years to come.”
The award-winning podcast is the first cannabis media platform to be honored by AIVA. 2020 Winners who received the competition’s highest honor, the Award of Excellence, include Amazon, ESPN Films, Publicis Sapient, Macy’s, PepsiCo Design & Innovation, Forbes Media, and Savvy. “We are extremely proud to recognize the work received in the 26th Annual Communicator Awards.
