Since the murder of George Floyd at the hands of police officers in Minneapolis, there have been calls across the country from protestors to defund the police.
Removing hundreds of millions of dollars from police budgets and moving the money into other areas of needs have picked up popularity. Some cities have gone as far as starting the process to strip down police budgets.
Another notion that is connected to defunding the police that could go a long way to curbing police violence would be to defund the war on drugs.
Raging on since the Regan-era, this so-called war has resulted in mass incarceration and very little stoppage of actual drug trafficking.
