COVID-19 has interruppted the lives of millions across the globe. Add another name to the list of those that have been touched by the virus.

Inmate Michael Thompson has just been hospilitaized due to COVID.

Thompson, known in many cirlces due to his famous case. a nonviolent drug offender who is currently serving a prison sentence of 40-60 years for selling cannabis.

Prison reform advocates have called for his release since earlier this year when the virus first started spreading through the U.S. prison system. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, who could have ordered his early release from prison, has yet to take action.

69-year-old Thompson, who happens to be diabetic, is now troubled with dealing with a new problem.

Sentenced back in 1994 after he sold cannabis to an undercover cop, Thompson has already served 25 years of his 40 to 60-year sentence.
