CashColorCannabis News: Chris Webber, Allen Iverson Jump Into The Weeds

Last week, two NBA legends crossed-over into cannabis.

NBA Hall-of-Famer Chris Webber made a big splash when news broke that the Fab Fiver was part of a team that broke ground on a $50 million cannabis operations and training center in Detroit.

Players Only, a Black-owned business that Webber co-founded with entrepreneur Lavetta Willis, will focus on cannabis cultivation and retail, brand partnerships and content development. Cookies U, part of California-based Cookies’ social impact program, will provide training and job placement services that focus on minorities and underrepresented communities.

The 180,000-square-foot facility will feature 60,000 square feet of cultivation space, a 8,000-square-foot dispensary and a private cannabis consumption lounge. Webber isn’t the only ex-hooper who created waves in the industry last week. Future NBA hall-of-famer Allen Iverson in partnership with Al Harrington’s company Viola released A.I.’s “96”.

The indica dominant strain made it’s limited release in Los Angeles this weekend. You think we will see even more former ballers shooting their shot in the cannabis industry?
