For the last two months, we have had the pleasure to work with Charity Moran Parsons and her company Seaux & Reap.
Seaux & Reap creates luxury experiences and excursions for cannaseuers. Anything from private dinners to exclusive getaways, Seaux & Reap can provide the right type of vibe that you’re looking for.
Learn more about the person behind the brand. Read our Q&A below.
CashColorCannabis.com: Please introduce yourself and tell us what your role is with Seaux & Reap?
Charity Moran Parsons: My name is Charity Moran Parsons and I am the Founder of Seaux And Reap Enterprises. I serve as Chief Cannaisseur, responsible for the curation of cannabis excursions and infused supper experiences.
CashColorCannabis.com: This isn’t your first business venture? What other businesses have you created in the past?
Charity Moran Parsons: I’ve created iDoSchool.com, an educational consulting firm dedicated to decolonizing curricula, debunking myths about students of color, and fostering safe spaces for teachers to do these things in service of Liberatory Pedagogy. I’ve also supported the startup of another culturally responsive teaching company’s curricula and program of workshops for adult learners.
CashColorCannabis.com: What did you learn from those past businesses that you use to help make Seaux & Reap successful?
Charity Moran Parsons: Importance of a team and understanding the many working styles and personalities of the team members. Nuances of organizing adults and effective communication at each phase of a project is imperative to ensure that each guest’s experience is one that considers their level of consumption, learning, and social currency and word of mouth are a must as we consider marketing and the power of relationships.
The power of a PIVOT (shout out to Kobe Bryant); anchoring in a North Star & trusting the process.
CashColorCannabis.com: What led you to start Seaux & Reap?
Charity Moran Parsons: I was bouncing around the country as an educational consultant and enjoying cannabis in all varieties of markets and as I watched the industry evolve from trap houses with security to apple stores more or less, I felt a certain guilt. Guilt around the fact that I have family members, close friends who have three strikes for doing the work of essential pioneers in the cannabis industry and being persecuted by the state.
In search of a way to reconcile the two, I created SeauxAndReap as a way to combine entertainment and travel with the purpose of advocating for cannabis justice. And voila, SeauxAndReap became this conduit for transformative travel; travel with a purpose at its core to see cannabis and its pioneers gain equity and justice.
An educator at my heart, I’m dedicated to crafting deepened, culturally responsive learning experiences for adults and students. So each excursion had embedded within it various tasks and conversations that empower guests and informed consumption
CashColorCannabis.com: Why did you choose to curate events as a way to get yourself into the cannabis industry?
Charity Moran Parsons: It was the perfect nexus of my desires and passions! Curating events that foster safe spaces for deepened learning and informed consumption of cannabis seemed like a win all around! And it has been; guests are reporting walking away with a greater level of knowledge that was obtained in a fun environment, luxurious setting be it at a dinner table, chauffeured dispensary hop, or at a harvest festival.
CashColorCannabis.com: Speak to us about some of the unique events that you have produced. What was your first and what has been your favorite?
Charity Moran Parsons: Our first excursion was to the Coachella Music Festival 2015; it was the best of times and the worst of times lol so much learning and planning critique was gained, I’m forever grateful for that excursion and the wealth of opportunity it presented. I have a very fond spot for firsts.
Our flagship supper is the Friendsgiving in New Orleans with Chef Ashley Jonique on the 5-course menu. It’s always near and dear to my heart, for sentimental purposes.
My personal favorite is Emerald Cup.
But I feel this one is in for a serious run for its money given this summer’s South African excursion! It’s going to be a 14-day hop from Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town, traversing safari, spa, CannaConference, beaches, wineries, and hiking! It’s truly going to be the quintessential South African experience.
CashColorCannabis.com: Who is the typical Seaux & Reap customer?
Charity Moran Parsons: We cater to the Cannacurious, the Cannaisseur, and the CannaAlly. Anyone who is open to luxuriating their consumption and gaining more insight into cannaJustice.
CashColorCannabis.com: What are some of the issues you deal with when it comes to promoting your brand on social media and what have you done to overcome them?
Charity Moran Parsons: Blocked promotions due to mentions of cannabis. I’ve found workarounds like alternate spellings and formatting spaces to show the word in creative ways
Thanks to the Tree One Eight conglomerate, I’m aware of apps like the THCGirlsApp and we’ve been playing around with 420-friendly platforms like The Weed Tube to publish media as well.
Of course, there’s nothing like the person-to-person intact of SMS and Email marketing in safe ways as well.
