Dank Seeds and CashColorCannabis teamed up to curate a vlog series that highlights the art of growing. Tapping growers with three different levels of experience, the series will show each one brings life from seed to full bloom.
Our growers agreed to give us a journal chronicling their efforts each week. For our first edition, we talk with Uriel, with Uriel Advance Grows. An expert grower, Uriel is familiar with Dank Seeds and growing.
Get to know a little bit about Uriel, how he felt being asked to participate in this process and more.
CashColorCannabis: Please introduce yourself and tell us what you do.
Uriel Advance Grows: I’m Uriel, and you probably know me as Uriel Advance Grows on social media. You can find me on various platforms, with a strong presence on Instagram, Facebook, and I’m soon launching my YouTube channel. I’m well-recognized within the grower community, primarily for the Facebook groups I manage. One is proudly sponsored by AC Infinity, AC Infinity Advance Growing, and the other enjoys sponsorship from several leading genetic companies including dank, Genetics Advance Growing. You’re welcome to join us on Facebook, where both groups warmly welcome growers at all levels, from beginners to master growers. We’re dedicated to providing our community with top-notch advice and support for all things related to growing.
CCC: When did you first get into growing cannabis?
UAG: My initial attempt at growing a cannabis plant dates back to 2008 when I was at Compa Red’s place. We had a small seedling, but unfortunately, it didn’t survive because neither of us had a clue about what we were doing. Fast forward to 2020, and I decided to give it another shot. This time, I was determined to educate myself on the subject. Through hands-on experimentation and plenty of trial and error, I gradually began to grasp effective growing methods, leading to some impressive results.
As I delved deeper into the world of cannabis cultivation, I realized the critical role that genetics played in the process. This understanding led me to explore reputable genetic brands like dank. I also made a significant investment in top-notch grow equipment, going all in with AC Infinity to support my cannabis growing journey.
CCC: How many times did you mess up before you found a consistent method?
UAG: There’s always space for growth and improvement in the world of cannabis cultivation by incorporating new techniques. Personally, I’ve had my fair share of challenges; I can’t even keep track of how many plants I’ve almost lost, especially during the veg phase. However, I persevered and managed to reach the finish line on most occasions.
Despite having three years of experience growing cannabis, I still consider myself a beginner grower, and the first year was filled with numerous mistakes. It took some trial and error, but eventually, I’ve developed a method that yielded positive outcomes to my expectations. I used to switch up my entire approach with each grow, but now I’ve found a level of consistency by adopting the use of Coco as a growing medium. Also, made several other changes such as water source, nutrients and other solutions such as PH and plant vitamins.
CCC: When you first were asked to take part in this series, what was your first thought? Were you apprehensive at first?
UAG: My initial reaction was to think that this is a fantastic chance for any cannabis enthusiast with a goal of uniting growers together, expanding the vibrant communities. It’s an opportunity to extend invitations to everyone to join our private groups, fostering tranquil and respectful discussions about cannabis, a topic that still carries some societal apprehension. Naturally, the fear of making mistakes during the cultivation process resonates in my mind, especially as a beginner. However, I’m committed to giving it my best and sticking to my most recent method to ensure consistency in my endeavors with dank X Cash Color Cannabis.
CCC: Now that we are in the first stages of this series, tell us about how you started your process (exp: did you start setting your area? Did you begin by popping seeds?)
UAG: I typically kick off my seed germination by soaking Root Riot cubes in water with SuperThrive Vitamin Solution. After that, I put the cubes in the AC Infinity Germination Kit, which streamlines the process with its heat mat and two seamlessly fitting bar-style LED lights. For this round, I’ve sown 7 seeds from dank Genetics, including 3 Cosmic Lemon Haze, 3 Biscotti, and 1 OG Sherbet. Currently, all of my grow tents are in the flowering stage, and they should be ripe for harvesting just as the seedlings are due for repotting and moving into their designated tent. In the meantime, they’ll find a temporary home on my office desk, adhering to the standard 18/6 daylight schedule, which means they’ll be bathed in light from 7 am to 1 am each day during the seedling and vegetative stages.
CCC: What do you think is going to be the most difficult part of doing this?
UAG: Staying current is quite the challenge for me. Between my demanding full-time job that involves a lengthy 3+ hour round-trip commute four days a week, caring for my small family with kids and a wife, and the responsibilities of managing a Facebook group with almost 40,000 members, it’s like having another full-time job. On top of all that, I must find time to tend to my garden, document the entire growth process, and create engaging content for all my fellow growmies to appreciate.
CCC: What do you want to take away from this project?
UAG: My primary goal for this project is to foster a sense of community among growers by establishing a strong and trustworthy reputation, both as a skilled cultivator and as an approachable individual. I find great satisfaction in assisting fellow enthusiasts and being able to openly share the successful techniques and practices that have yielded results in my own journey.
