PRECIOUS Canna Co. Celebrates Black History as a Trailblazer
In honor of Black History Month, PRECIOUS Canna Co., the first and only Black woman-owned cannabis pre-roll brand in New Jersey, is celebrating its journey as a trailblazer in the industry. Founded by Precious Osagie-Erese, PRECIOUS has rapidly expanded and is now available in over 60 dispensaries across the state, marking a significant milestone in Black-owned cannabis entrepreneurship.
Precious Osagie-Erese launched PRECIOUS with a vision of breaking barriers in an industry where Black ownership remains disproportionately low. Despite state-backed legalization efforts and the industry’s rapid growth—now valued at over $40 billion—Black entrepreneurs own less than 2% of cannabis businesses nationwide. This disparity highlights the systemic barriers Black communities face in accessing capital, licensing, and industry opportunities.
“As a Black woman in cannabis, my mission is bigger than just building a brand. It’s about creating a legacy, reclaiming our space in an industry that has historically criminalized our communities, and paving the way for more Black women to step into ownership,” said Osagie-Erese. “Representation matters. Seeing someone who looks like you succeed in this space proves that it’s possible. I want PRECIOUS to be a catalyst for that change.”
With New Jersey’s legal cannabis market continuing to expand, PRECIOUS Canna Co. is setting an example for what’s possible when Black entrepreneurs have access to resources and equitable opportunities. The brand’s success demonstrates the demand for high-quality, Black-owned cannabis products and the importance of consumer support in diversifying the industry. The PRECIOUS product line offers a selection of premium pre-rolls, including “PEAK,” “PRIME,” and “PLUTO”—2-gram 3-pack pre-rolls designed to enhance sensations of elevation, balance, and relaxation. These luxury-packaged pre-rolls are crafted for the modern connoisseur, ensuring a top-tier cannabis experience.
PRECIOUS is not just about selling pre-rolls; it is about creating a movement that uplifts Black entrepreneurs and encourages more Black women to enter the cannabis business. Osagie-Erese is actively advocating for policy changes, funding opportunities, and industry reforms that will allow more Black-owned businesses to thrive in this multi-billion-dollar market.
As PRECIOUS continues to grow, the brand remains committed to its mission of fostering inclusivity, equity, and empowerment in the cannabis industry. This Black History Month, PRECIOUS celebrates its progress and the future of Black ownership in cannabis, striving to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs.
