From the Gridiron to Green: Bo Scaife’s Playbook for Athletes Entering Cannabis
When former NFL tight end Bo Scaife hung up his cleats, he didn’t just walk away from football—he ran straight into a new purpose. Cannabis, a plant that once helped him manage the physical and emotional toll of pro sports, is now the centerpiece of his post-NFL life and entrepreneurial mission.
“Cannabis has been part of my journey since high school,” Scaife says. After multiple ACL injuries and the mental spiral that came with them, he found clarity and healing in the plant, well before it was fashionable or fully legal.
Growing up in Denver, one of the first cities to legalize adult-use cannabis, Bo saw opportunity where others saw risk. “I had this conversation with my father. He said, ‘You just gonna go buy land and grow marijuana?’ I said, ‘That’s exactly what I’m gonna do.’”
That bold vision became AllPro Farms, a brand rooted in wellness and grown on 140 acres in Southern Colorado. AllPro started with cultivation and premium flower, but it’s quickly becoming much more: a storefront is on the horizon, and a cannabis-centric wellness resort is in development.
So, what’s Bo’s advice for fellow athletes looking to pivot into the cannabis space?
“You gotta love it,” he says plainly. “It’s not easy. There are so many moving parts, regulations, and headaches. You need a strong team, risk tolerance, and patience.”
He’s also quick to note that it’s not just about profit. “There are people in prison right now for cannabis. I take this opportunity seriously. I feel like I’m on assignment for them.”
From catching touchdowns to cultivating terpenes, Bo Scaife is living proof that athletes can successfully translate discipline, hustle, and vision into the cannabis industry—on their own terms.
