Skyworld Partners with Last Prisoner Project to Support Drug War Survivors and Advance Cannabis Justice
Skyworld, a New York-based cannabis brand rooted in Indigenous tradition, today announced a new partnership with Last Prisoner Project (LPP), a nonprofit dedicated to freeing those incarcerated due to the War on Drugs and helping them rebuild their lives. The collaboration aims to raise awareness, mobilize the cannabis community, and generate direct support for Drug War survivors and their families.
This partnership falls under LPP’s Partners for Freedom program, and through this campaign, Skyworld is also inviting dispensaries to participate in the organization’s Roll It Up for Justice program. Participating retailers can offer customers the opportunity to donate at checkout in support of LPP’s work.
As part of the partnership, Skyworld is spotlighting its White Apple Runtz (WAR) flower, a hybrid indoor cultivar that blends crisp apple candy, creamy sweetness, and light tropical citrus. With a terpene profile totaling 3.5%, dominated by caryophyllene (1.2%), limonene (0.8%), and myrcene (0.4%), WAR delivers bright citrus, sweet, and tropical flavors with an apple candy, sweet aroma. WAR reflects Skyworld’s belief that true quality comes from care, compassion, and respect for the plant, inviting consumers to choose flower that not only offer a standout sensory experience, but also support LPP’s mission. The product can be found via the Skyworld store locator at skyworldcannabis.com.
A Label That Confronts the Drug War
To honor the gravity of its collaboration with Last Prisoner Project, Skyworld partnered with Case Study, Labs on a special WAR label featuring archival imagery of Richard Nixon, Harry Anslinger, Ronald and Nancy Reagan, and early drug enforcement scenes—figures and moments tied to the escalation of the War on Drugs. The label uses layered imagery and symbolic references, especially to the “Just Say No” era, to evoke the emotional weight of that period and gesture toward the policies that drove criminalization and mass incarceration.
“Last Prisoner Project does the work most people would rather not look at,” said John D’Angelo, Creative Director and Strategic Designer at Case Study, Labs. “They force the industry to reckon with the human cost of the War on Drugs, not as history, but as something still unfolding.”
In this way, WAR’s design and this partnership work in tandem—using the label to remember the past and the collaboration with Last Prisoner Project to help change the present.
“We’re honored to stand alongside Last Prisoner Project and help shine a light on the people still behind bars for cannabis,” said Alex Anderson, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer at Skyworld. “At Skyworld, we believe cannabis cannot be called legal or just until we address the harm of prohibition and fight for those still incarcerated. This partnership is our commitment to pairing premium cannabis with purpose—supporting freedom, healing, and justice for the people and families most impacted.”
“We’re thrilled to partner with Skyworld, whose leadership shows what it looks like when the cannabis industry gives back in a meaningful way,” said Stephanie Shepard, Acting Executive Director of Last Prisoner Project. “Skyworld understands that true progress includes repairing the harm of prohibition, and their support helps bring us closer to freedom and justice for those still impacted by outdated cannabis laws.”
